Making Connections Blog Hop

Thank you for following along with the blog hop celebrating the release of Making Connections, A Free Motion Quilting Workbook. I hope you've gotten to know some of the wonderful participants and have enjoyed seeing the projects they have created with the quilting designs from the book.

The most common comments I would read is that quilters struggle with choosing designs and figuring out how to move around the quilt. They also want to feel more comfortable or confident in their quilting.
And my favorite comment .....

''This book is just what I need!''

I Love that!!
It is my hope that this book will help you learn the free motion skills needed to quilt your quilts with confidence and to have fun doing it!

Just to give you an idea of what this book can teach you, I am sharing a few videos of how I quilted this quilt top. Consider this a free mini class. The videos are a little longer than I normally post but they are packed with information.
Picture
The first video is of how I planned to move through the quilt,  quilting each row.

Please leave a comment on the videos if you found them helpful.
The second video is of how I quilted two of the blocks.

You can also view a slide show of the blocks.

I have to say I think I'm somewhere in between traditional and modern quilting. I'm not fond of quilting triangles in triangles or diamonds in diamonds. I like curves and lots of them. I can't wait to get this book!

I find myself somewhere in the middle with my quilting. It really depends on what catches my fancy when I'm making quilts.

I'm a middle child...so MIDDLE it is! Like the traditional-without being too old fashioned and modern without being so structured. A REBEL at heart I guess.

Traditional quilting, with a little foray into the moderns.
The grandkids like the modern ones, so I must learn to change with the times.

I prefer something in between, I guess. I have done mostly traditional quilting up until now, though. However, I am starting to want to sew some modern quilts.

I am definitely somewhere in-between! I love traditional and I am liking modern more and more. I enjoy melding the two!

I usually prefer a combination of the two styles. I very seldom use strictly modern quilting.

I'm definitely in the middle but it depends on the quilt. The most modern I've done is a continuous spiral on a baby quilt and I loved it! Still trying to master feathers.

I like a combination of both although more and more I like modern quilting - matchstick quilting is so awesome. I try to do a little free motion quilting each day to improve my skills! Thanks for a really interesting blog and a lovely book! Wishing you continued success (and full bobbins!)

Traditional quilting has always intimidated me, but I am pushing to learn more. I guess I lean towards modern quilting, but I really just do as the quilt and my mood dictates. I guess I do "me quilting". Great job on your book and blog hop. :)

I am somewhere in between. My quilts are far from traditional, yet definitely do not have enough blank space to be modern. I just don't want to quilt all that empty area. With a book like this one, maybe that won't be so intimidating.

Wonderful ideas in your book...I have enjoyed all the stops along the way and its been fun to see all the various quilting and the projects. Lots of inspiration! I am somewhere in between traditional and modern, as I find different quilts need different levels of attention with the quilting. Thanks for sharing the great giveaway!

I hover somewhere in between. I like simple and easy but gravitate towards the ones that look complicated but aren't. Probably much easier to achieve than I think.
